EXPLANATION: Strange gnome screen saver behavior. For example, after disabling the screen-saver the monitor(s) still go black and may never reactivate. Multiple monitors have been known to aggravate this problem.

WORKAROUND: Remove the associated gnome rpms as follows:

rpm -e gnome-screensaver
rpm -e gnome-power-manager
